Maui vs. Oahu – Which is the Better Hawaiian Island?

Today, we are introducing a new feature at GlobeTales.com: Travel Debates. Not only do we want to be an excellent source of information for our fellow travelers, we want them to be able to interact with us and with one another. To this end we will regularly be adding new debates to the site, and allowing our readers to vote and add their comments, express their opinions, list pros and cons and so forth.

In light of Eric Hamilton’s recent stellar piece on Honolulu and because I will be heading to Maui in a little over three weeks I thought Maui vs. Oahu would be a great debate to kick things off.

Ideally, those who vote and comment will have been to both destinations. However, even if you have only been to one of these places don’t let that dissuade you from casting a vote and telling us (in the comments section below) what you enjoyed about your trip(s) there.

Having only visited Maui I can't properly weigh in on both sides of the debate....however, I will say that the sunsets and whale watching in Maui are well worth the journey there!

They are both fantastic for their own reasons. We have been to both as well as Hawaii but we still by far prefer Maui. Less traffic, more beaches, closer views of the Humpbacks from the beach, nicer snorkelling, more relaxed and laid back are a few of the reasons. Try them both and make your own paradise wherever you decide to go back to.
